New adidas adiFOM Q Sneaker is Inspired by 2001 adidas Quake (and Not Yeezy)

Expanding their lightweight foam creations from the Yeezy Foam Runners, adidas adiFOM Q is the German brand's very own foam skeleton sneaker.

[Update 23 Aug 2022] @lin_second_ has done it again! The black colorway, first seen as a sample, now looks to be a confirmed addition to the adidas adiFOM Q release. In this iteration, the EVA foam skeleton takes on a black hue while the inner bootie is dressed in a bright neon orange. The laces, too, adopt this color for extra contrast against the plain black. As with the white edition, the adidas Trefoil logo lands on the padded tongue, though this time in black. The adidas adiFOM Q is set to drop on 1 September and will retail for US$120.

LINE[Update 19 Aug 2022] Courtesy of @lin_second_, closer looks at the adidas adiFOM Q have been revealed. This surfaces amidst tense relations between Ye’s Yeezy and adidas, and is perhaps a means to attenuate rumors that the Trefoil has been copying the rapper’s homework designs. Regardless of intentions, these detailed shots showcase that the exoskeleton is printed with intricate grooves that seem to further adidas’ obsession with topographical elements as of late. That being said, these images do not come with release dates, but we expect more information to drop soon.

[Update 29 Jun 2022] More information has been released for the adidas adiFOM Q by adidas themselves! The drop of official images (pictured above) reveal that the adidas trefoil logo appears on the side of the tongue in bright orange. The orange accents also trims the bootie.

Though previously thought to be inspired by Kanye’s Foam Runners, it has been pointed out that the adiFOM Q also bears similarities to the archival adidas Quake from 2001. Compared to Ye’s foam clogs, these adiFOM Q’s cut-outs are more similar to the windows found on the Quake. That, and the inclusion of a bootie, makes it closer in appearance to the adidas Quakes. Exact release dates are still murky, but a 2022 drop is confirmed. Stay tuned to our page for the latest updates!

QUICK LOOK:

Where to buy the adidas adiFOM Q Sneaker

Lightweight foam is all the rage now with Yeezy’s Foam Runner and Crocs taking off. adidas, with Yeezy under their wing, hops onto this craze to craft their own version of the EVA foam trend.

Taking on the form of a sneaker, the silhouette is a sculpted foam exoskeleton. Within it is a sock-like (likely Primeknit) bootie, similar to that of the Yeezy Boosts. The resemblance to Ye’s brand does not end there, though. The cutouts on the upper and wave-like upward strokes on the sole inevitably calls to mind the Foam Runners. However, unlike the Foam Runners’ cutouts which are there for ventilation purposes, the punchouts on the adidas adiFOM Q act as eyestays for the laces.

Presented in a sleek all-black composition and a chunkier all-white version, it remains to be known if these samples are the finalised looks of the adidas adiFOM Q. Release dates are also obscure, but there is possibility that these lightweight sneakers will be released late 2022 or early 2023. However, given Kanye’s recent lashing out against adidas for their Adilette 22, details might waver.

In the meantime, though, keep scrolling to see more pictures of the adidas adiFOM Q samples.
