Every year, Nike launches a capsule collection for Pride Month under the “BE TRUE” campaign. The campaign aligns with Nike’s sports branding and primarily feature LGBTQ+ athletes and their stories. This year’s Pride dedication comes in the form of two revamped sneakers.

The first of which is a “BE TRUE” version of the Nike SB Dunk Low. As per the usual Pride palette, the Nike SB Dunk Low receives a rainbow injection. The waved stitching in rainbow are found at the tongues and heels, while the BE TRUE logo is also embroidered prominently on the heel. Mismatched heel tabs contribute to the point of diversity and difference that Pride stands for while the sole has a rainbow-gradient panel. Most fascinating is the upper, which features a colour-changing material that is UV reactive. Under different light conditions, the upper will change into a deeper or lighter colour, putting a unique spin on the rainbow concept.

Following in the multicoloured footsteps of the Nike SB Dunk Low is the Nike Cortez. In the “BE TRUE” version, a layered embroidery of the Swoosh is featured in six different colours. The heel tabs, similar to the Nike SB Dunk Low, has mismatched colours of the Nike logo. Furthering the colourful thematic is the midsole, which looks like a rainbow was wedged within its contours.

The Nike SB Dunk Low will be released on 13th June at a retail price of USD$110 to coincide with Pride Month. No news yet on the exact date of launch for the Nike Cortez, but it is expected to drop in June as well.
