QUICK LOOK:
Where to buy the Rui Hachimura x Air Jordan 36 “Global Game”
Washington Wizards’ Rui Hachimura has returned with another collaboration with Air Jordan. Evidenced from the clear display of cultural motifs, Hachimura continues to imbue every iteration of his Nike collaborations with his Japanese roots.
Amalgamating the colour way of “Twine”, “Gym Red”, and “Sesame”, this design is reminiscent of Hachimura’s delayed Air Jordan 8 SE (slated to be released on 23rd May). Compared to the Air Jordan 8, though, the basketball star’s version of Air Jordan 36 is more bold in its showcase of Japanese graphics.
Both insoles and bottoms are adorned with cherry blossoms, mountain ranges and a couple of basketballs in a distinctive brush painting style. This gestures towards both Hachimura’s Japanese culture and glowing basketball record. Accentuating these graphics are Japanese Kanji characters on the pull tabs along with the mismatched pairing of Hachimura’s signature samurai logo and the emblematic Jumpman figure on the tongue.
The upper is also dressed in cracked leather, giving the design a characteristic aged look. This mature style is paired with a bamboo-like lattice on the quarter panel. The shoe box also holds its own against the stellar sneaker design — the usual black cardboard is invigorated with an intricate artwork of Hachimura dunking whilst shadows circle his silhouette.
