The recent news of the Air Jordan 38<\/a> is a mind-boggling reminder that the central Jordan line is approaching four decades. As the entire catalogue expands its own universe\u2014decades later, a plethora of models after\u2014the Air Jordan 1 still has no neighbors in the mountaintop it lives on, breathing its own air high above its successors, and contemporaries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It only makes sense that even a model as timeless could use an update. Thus, the Nike NU Retro Air Jordan 1 Low. It first emerged in 2002 under Jordan Brand’s plan of offshoot silhouettes, before reemerging 20 years later in September 2022 on the feet of their golden boy Jayson Tatum<\/a>. Since then, general releases have followed with the titular colorway as the latest addition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It arrives in the same make as its predecessors: all-around leather build on the upper and a mesh interior. Its hallmarks are untouched as well like the embossed, oversized Jordan Wings logo on the lateral quarter. The NU Retro is an amalgam of old and new, so while it retains its familiarity, it necessitates a novelty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aside from the aforementioned Jordan Wings, the Jumpman makes more appearances particularly on the lateral midsole, lace opening on the tongue, and the medial quarter, and of course\u2014the footbed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The White, Black, and Grey color palette is both versatile and easy on the eyes. The first landing on the quarter panels and midsoles; the second on the tongue, laces, mudguard, and interior; with the last finding its place on the toebox, heel counter, and the backend of the sole unit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Purists may not gravitate to a retrofitting of an icon, but enthusiasts might find the contemporary design and colorway an easy addition to their wardrobe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A release date hasn’t been announced but expect to find them on SNKRS for US$110 when the powers that be allow it. When that information comes through, trust that it will reach you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
