While most of the sneakersphere’s attention is fixated on Nike’s upcoming Air Max Day<\/a>, New Balance has been quietly dropping a lot of heat recently. From collaborations with Kith<\/a> to funky inline releases like the 9060 “Multi-Color”<\/a>, the Boston-based shoemakers are certainly keeping up with the Swoosh.<\/p>\n

Perhaps the highlight of New Balance’s recent ventures comes in the form of Action Bronson’s 990v6<\/a>. Not only did the 990v6 silhouette<\/a> debut not too long ago, Bronson’s Baklava makeup also owns the title of being the first collaborative makeover on the new model.<\/p>\n

In New Balance’s eyes, there’s no better way to promote other silhouettes than to come up with a colorway that resembles Bronson’s 990v6. Cue the New Balance 580, coming in hot with a colorway that looks to leverage on the popularity of the rapper’s Baklava color palette.<\/p>\n

Let’s make one thing clear though. Brands repurposing popular collaborative colorways for their inline releases is not something new. While few and far between, you can’t deny that entries such as the Nike Air Jordan 4 WMNS “Shimmer”<\/a> draws immediate comparisons to the Off-White x Air Jordan 4 WMNS “Sail”.<\/p>\n

This upcoming New Balance 580 sports a mix of oceanic blues across most of its upper, constructed out of suede, leather and mesh. Neon green chimes in on the tongue label as well as on the Rollbar-infused midsole.<\/p>\n

While pink appears on Bronson’s 990v6’s laces, here it takes form on the mid panel and text on the tongue, adding a contrast pop in the sea of blue. To make its branding stand out, a cool dose of maroon is applied on the iconic “N” logo and heel of the shoe.<\/p>\n

Just to be doubly sure, this is indeed a GR release of the upcoming New Balance 580. While a release date has not been confirmed, expect to find it on New Balance and select retailers in the coming weeks. We’ll keep you updated as soon as we can, so stay tuned!<\/p>\n
