[Update 10 Apr 2023] After a brief wait, w<\/strong>e are finally seeing a release of the Nike Air Force 1 Low “Jackie Robinson”. Slated to arrive on 15 April, the pair is expected to be made available via Nike and select retailers with a retail price tag of $120.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The great Jackie Robinson made his Major League Baseball debut in 1947. While many have come before and after him, his debut was significant. He broke down baseball’s racial barrier and became the first African American to play in the league.<\/p>\n

Last year, Nike celebrated the 75th anniversary of Robinson’s historical debut with a Nike Dunk Low<\/a>\u00a0titled after him. His lasting impact on the sport can clearly be felt many decades later, with the Dunk Low selling out almost instantly and becoming one of the most desired Dunks of the year in a cluttered market.<\/p>\n

Now, the brand is adding another silhouette to Robinson’s name: the Nike Air Force 1 Low “Jackie Robinson”.<\/p>\n

In a similar tone as the Dunk Low last year, this Air Force 1 Low is outfitted with a myriad of baseball motifs and Robinson tributes. Playing on the color scheme of the olden Brooklyn Dodgers uniforms, white, blue, and grey share real estate on the shoe’s uppers. The team’s logo is also embossed on the tongue tab.<\/p>\n

Most noticeably, a big red “42” is embroidered on the heel. Of course, the number represents Robinson’s jersey number at the time. The laces come printed with “Change the World” spell-outs, once again honoring the legendary player.<\/p>\n

More details emerge on the metallic dubraes, with the left one featuring “1947”, representing the year he broke the color barrier. The latter shows “1956”, the year he retired.<\/p>\n

Rounding off the design it’s the Air Force 1 Low’s sole unit, transformed to match the dirt from a baseball diamond.<\/p>\n

Expect the upcoming Nike Air Force 1 Low “Jackie Robinson” to release at Nike and select retailers in the coming weeks. The retail price is set at US$120.<\/p>\n
