[Update 19 Jan 2023] More detailed images of the upcoming Nike Air Max 1 “Shima Shima” has surfaced thanks to @brandon1an<\/a> on Twitter. While they’re largely similar to the previously leaked samples, we can now see the usage of premium tooling across its uppers, highlighted by a crochet-textured tongue. Stay tuned as we’ll bring you the latest news for this exciting release once we get them!<\/p>\n

[Update 9 Jan 2023] More in-hand images have surfaced of the “Shima Shima” Air Max 1. There, we get a more holistic and angular looks. From the brown\u2013white color-blocking, the striped sock liner, as well as the signature sole unit. A release date nor a price point have yet to be disclosed but there’s reason to believe they’ll arrive in the coming weeks. Stay tuned for updates!<\/p>\n

2023 seems to be a year of revivals for the Swoosh brand, with remakes of old models such as the upcoming Gamma Force<\/a> as well as the once extremely rare Penny Hardaway’s debut Nike Air Foamposite<\/a> both surfacing in recent times.<\/p>\n

Joining the lineup of revivals, Nike is reportedly set to bring back one of the Air Max 1’s most popular styles, the Japanese-inspired “Shima Shima”, through new imagery that has recently been leaked on Instagram via @xcmade<\/a>. While the “Shima Shima” theme has been replicated on various models such as the Air Trainer 1 not too long ago, dressing it in the evergreen Air Max 1 will definitely pique the interest of the sneaker cognoscenti given that its the collection’s 20th anniversary.<\/p>\n

While distinctively similar to its predecessor in terms of its earthly tones, the silhouette incorporates a new lighter tone by giving the uppers a creamy base along with brown overlays on its Swoosh logo, mudguard and eyelets. The pack’s hallmarks, the prominent pinstriped sock liner, along with its iconic Japanese-worded tongue label, both retain their places on the new iteration.<\/p>\n

While release details are scanty at the moment, the release of the Air Max 1 “Shima Shima”, much like its older counterparts, is expected to be a Europe-exclusive. Stay tuned as we’ll bring you the latest news as soon as we get them.<\/p>\n
