For a music collective that began with founder Sean Miyashiro working out of his car on the rooftop of a Bronx parking garage, 88rising has racked up a mind-bogglingly large number of achievements. From being the first record label to be given its own official slot at Coachella<\/em>, producing billions of streams (across their various artists\u2019 music), to collaborating with high-profile fashion brands, to producing the official soundtrack for a Marvel movie, and now to running their own, self-contained music festivals, the collective can take its due share of credit for slingshotting Asian music into mainstream appeal.<\/p>\n

88rising\u2019s lineup contains a vast range of personalities, genres, styles and aesthetics\u2014so the collective was always bound to dip its toes into the world of fashion and streetwear. While 88rising\u2019s stars busy themselves with preparations for the 2022 edition of their annual music extravaganza Head in the Clouds 2022<\/em>, happening in Jakarta this weekend (3-4 Dec) and in Manila next weekend (9-10 Dec), let\u2019s take a look at some of their best moments in the realm of streetwear.<\/p>\n

1. Guess x 88rising<\/h2>\n

Guess x 88rising is possibly the label\u2019s most extensive fashion collaboration yet. The collab is still ongoing, and as of now there have already been several iterations and releases, with no signs of stopping.<\/p>\n

\"88rising2021\u2019s Guess Originals x 88rising collection kept with Guess\u2019 classic triangular logo look, stylized with 88rising\u2019s signature icons, such as double hearts, \u2018rising\u2019 question marks and oriental-style dragons coiled into the shape of a \u201c88\u201d. Also featured across the collection were locations scribbled in cursive, denoting the origins of the collectives\u2019 various members, such as Miyashiro\u2019s hometown, San Jose.<\/p>\n

\"88rising2022\u2019s GUE88 collection completely switched it up, including a wider range of designs featuring 88risings key motifs. The world caught its first glimpse of the GUE88 collection through an old-school yearbook-inspired photoshoot featuring the collective\u2019s biggest stars, such as NIKI, Joji, Rich Brian and Higher Brothers.<\/p>\n

\"88risingTie-dye colors, new materials and additional apparel types were introduced, indicating both brand\u2019s willingness to break out of the box\u2014making us extra excited about what\u2019s to come from this collab.<\/p>\n

2. Ambush x 88rising<\/h2>\n

After a rapidly sold-out collaboration at Coachella 2022<\/em>, 88rising teamed up with contemporary Japanese jewellery label AMBUSH to produce yet another apparel collection just this August. The theme: surfing.<\/p>\n

\"\"Supposedly, the photoshoot\u2019s lookbook, titled \u201cETERNAL SURF DREAM\u201d, centres around Hue on the way back from an afternoon surfing, dropping by a local bodega to grab a snack before continuing on his journey home. Though we\u2019ve never taken a nap on a convenience store\u2019s floor, Warren Hue clearly knows something we don\u2019t.<\/p>\n
