[Update 6 Jan 2023] Months after the initial drop at ComplexCon, we are finally getting a general release of the Verdy x UNDERCOVER capsule collection. Set to release exclusively via UNDERCOVER Aoyama and UNDERCOVER’s online store, the collection will be made available to purchase on 8th January for prices ranging from 9,900 JPY to 162,800 JPY (~US$75 to US$1215). [Update 14 Nov 2022] <\/strong>ComplexCon is happening and so is the Verdy x UNDERCOVER capsule collection. With an additional lineup of items ranging of t-shirts, sweats and even a tote bag, signature designs of Girls Don’t Cry and UNDERCOVER are featured alongside Wasted Youth, another one of Verdy’s renowned label. While no details of a general release are known, do keep a look out for the Verdy x UNDERCOVER collection at ComplexCon from 19th to 20th November.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"LINE\"<\/p>\n

The collaborative spirit of Japanese streetwear brands has been a long documented fact, with labels often having sequels and reconnections with each other every few years. So it’s no surprise that Verdy’s Girls Don’t Cry is linking hands with UNDERCOVER again, albeit in a more subtle manner than its previous partnership.<\/p>\n

Four years back, UNDERCOVER enlisted Verdy’s graphical talents for its MADSTORE concept store, and the resultant capsule was Verdy’s sub label logos overlaid with UNDERCOVER’s gothic punk aesthetic. Fast forward to 2022, and a burgundy Verdy x UNDERCOVER ComplexCon jacket has been revealed by the artist on his Instagram<\/a>. This time around, the nylon windbreaker is kept relatively minimal, with standard Girls Don’t Cry branding on the chest’s right while UNDERCOVER in Verdy’s rounded font on the left. Both logos have a silver glint, making it just a tad more eye catching than if it was a white print.<\/p>\n

The back is where most of our attention diverts. A crying girl in an old school milk maid dress is depicted, similar to 70s fairy tale book covers, except she’s not crying over spilt milk. She’s crying over… spilt brains UNDER a COVER, which captures UNDERCOVER’s punk rock origins in an unexpected but clever way.<\/p>\n

As of writing, it is unclear whether this is a ComplexCon-exclusive merchandise or if a wider release is imminent. Stay tuned to this page to be updated with the latest news on this collaboration.<\/p>\n
