It’s official \u2014 St\u00fcssy<\/a> and Dries Van Noten<\/a> have announced an upcoming collaboration via their business accounts. While St\u00fcssy is no stranger to partnering up with big names and coming out with elaborate collaborations, Dries Van Noten likes to keep its floral elegance in-house, with only a few iconic collaborative projects under its name.<\/p>\n

However, it seems like the fashion house’s exuberantly maximalist  Spring 2022 runway with Christian Lacroix has shifted the designer’s perspective on joint efforts and how it can create fashion that defines the moment. As Van Noten expressed in a Vogue interview, “Fashion has to reflect what is happening in the world… The way you dress can make you stronger; you can express things and find fun in life even when the world is grim.”<\/p>\n

With this primer, the brand’s link up with St\u00fcssy becomes less head-scratching and more informed \u2014 if Van Noten hopes that fashion can capture and uplift a time, then St\u00fcssy’s iconic playfulness and streetwear-leaning impress is perhaps more relevant than ever in today’s climate.<\/p>\n

Undeniably, the pandemic has shifted the consumer’s taste towards comfort clothing and streetwear lands safely within this umbrella category. And as a heavyweight in said category, Californian St\u00fcssy’s recognisable logo and type from the ’80s become a reliable platform for the sophisticated Dries Van Noten to lean on as they make their walk from runway to street. In this way, this collaboration seeks to redefine the ideology of casual wear from the ’80s and to capture how youth movements influence the next wave of trends.<\/p>\n

As of now, the two brands have released BTS footage of Red Hot Chilli Pepper’s Flea dressed in key pieces from the collection. The first of which is a co-branded varsity jacket with intricate gold embroidery and graphic patches along the sleeves. This is paired with shorts that are printed with Dries’ abstract patterning.<\/p>\n

Subsequent videos showcase a rhinestone-encrusted blazer that hangs loose and a cropped structured jacket with letterman-like patches, encapsulating the sophistication of Dries and the street-lean of St\u00fcssy. Prior to these official teasers, A$AP Nast<\/a> also showcased pieces from the collection on his Instagram stories. Notable mentions are caps with St\u00fcssy’s eight-ball embroidered with flora and an oversized hoodie with a co-branded St\u00fcssy x Dries Van Noten crest.<\/p>\n

This St\u00fcssy x Dries Van Noten collection will include an assortment of apparel that includes co-branded tie-dye t-shirts, sweatpants and sweatshirts to color-rich parkas, camp shirts, loose-fitting printed jeans and a rhinestone smoking blazer and pants. The capsule will see a global release on both brands’ webshops and select Dover Street Market on the following dates:<\/p>\n
