First seen on the Paris SS23 runways, the Mowawola x New Balance 9060 is finally dropping next friday (11 November). The latest take on New Balance’s Y2K-inspired 9060 silhouette takes its cues from the BDSM scene and sees the sneaker sport a sensual black upper, with pops of pink and teal appearing on its panels and sole.<\/p>\n

In our “Best of SS23 Sneaker Collabs”<\/a> feature, we noted that Mowalola’s New Balance 9060s looked “starkly different from Joe Freshgoods\u2019 New Balance \u201cInside Voices\u201d collab<\/a>” with a blacked-out colorway, and called it “a glow up”.<\/p>\n

Now, with its imminent release, we have a better look at the collaborative sneaker. Black mesh uppers are topped off with black leather overlays. Similarly, underfoot, New Balance’s ABZORB midsole gets a blackout treatment.<\/p>\n

To accentuate the textured look, hits of teal and pink are added. The \u201cN\u201d logo is also intentionally filled with air to achieve a 3D look. It’s all very on point for the Nigeria-born designer’s brand of sex and feminism.<\/p>\n
