Mega Clefable ex SAR from Munikis / Nihil Zero is making waves not just for its return to the lore in Pokémon LEGENDS Z-A, but for a stunning artistic gimmick that has collectors scrambling to complete the set.

Here is the current market breakdown from Akihabara.

Why the Hype? Connected Art & Anti-Meta Tech

Mega Clefable (Mega Pixie) serves as the ace Pokémon for the new character Yukari, giving it instant character appeal. But the real reason for the price surge lies in its binder appeal and its ability to shut down the current meta.

      1. The “Vertical Panorama” Art Gimmick

In the TCG community, few things drive value like “connecting art.”

This SAR, illustrated by Cona Nitanda, depicts Mega Clefable strutting confidently through the air. However, the artwork is incomplete on its own. It is designed to align vertically with the Clefairy AR (Pippi AR) from the same set, which shows Clefairy looking up at the night sky.

When placed together in a binder, they form a single, seamless vertical illustration. This storytelling element forces collectors to buy both, naturally driving up demand.

      2. The Ultimate “Anti-Ability” Wall

For players, Mega Clefable ex is a tactical nuke against the current annoying meta.

Its ability, “Light Wing,” prevents all effects of opponents’ Abilities. This is a direct counter to:

      • Froslass (Yukimenoko) & Munkidori (Mashimashira) Decks: It stops the chip damage and damage manipulation that these decks rely on.

      • “Cursed Bomb”: It completely neutralizes the popular Dusknoir line’s self-sacrifice bombing strategy.

        3. The “Dragapult” Check

The meta has been dominated by Dragapult ex (Dorapult ex) for months. Mega Clefable ex offers a new solution. By combining it with the card “Lillie’s Clefairy,” players can effectively hit Dragapult ex for Weakness, creating a viable path to One-Hit KO the format’s king.

Because it checks so many boxes in the competitive scene, playability is keeping the price floor high (¥6,000+) despite it being a collector’s piece.
