Why the Hype? Legs, Beams, and Snipes

Currently trading around the ¥7,000–¥8,500 mark, this card is generating buzz for reasons that are distinctly different from the typical “cute girl” or “cool dragon” cards.

      1. The Design That Trended Instantly

Let’s address the elephant in the room: The Legs.

In Pokémon LEGENDS Z-A, Mega Starmie debuted with its lower appendages extended in a way that resembles long legs. It was a shock to the fanbase, instantly trending on social media.

The SAR art by takuyoa leans into this chaos beautifully. It depicts Mega Starmie extending its limbs and firing a massive beam from its core. The composition is surprisingly god-like and majestic, yet retains that touch of humor that made the design go viral. It’s a conversation starter, making it a must-have for collectors who appreciate the unique side of Pokémon history.

      2. A Sniper’s Dream for Players

Beyond the memes, the card is actually good.

The attack “Jet Blow” is catching the eye of competitive players. For just one Water Energy, it deals 120 damage to the active Pokémon and snipes 50 damage to the bench.

In a meta where Stage 2 decks (evolution-heavy decks) are common, this low-cost attack can potentially knock out two unevolved Basic Pokémon at once, disrupting the opponent’s setup early in the game.

      3. Future “Max Rarity” Potential

At roughly ¥8,000, it’s an accessible entry point for an SAR. However, if a top-tier Water deck archetype emerges using Mega Starmie as a speed attacker, demand from “Max Rarity” players (those who “bling out” their decks with the highest rarity cards) could drive the price up. It’s a card to watch closely.
