Why the Hype? The “Mega” Comeback

Why is a Meganium card commanding such a premium? It comes down to two factors: Nostalgia and Rarity.

      1. The Pokémon LEGENDS Z-A Effect

Meganium, the final evolution of the Gen 2 (Johto) starter Chikorita, makes a triumphant return in the highly anticipated game Pokémon LEGENDS Z-A. For those who chose Chikorita as their first partner back in Gold & Silver, this card hits different.

The new “Mega Evolution” form featured on this SAR (Special Art Rare) card is visually stunning. The artwork depicts Mega Meganium with four blooming flowers around its neck, boasting a form that is both sturdy and undeniably cute. It’s a perfect blend of power and charm that appeals to both veteran trainers and new fans.

      2. The “Deck 101” Exclusivity

This isn’t just a standard booster pack pull. The Mega Meganium ex SAR—along with Mega Feraligatr ex and Mega Emboar ex—is exclusively found in the hidden “Deck No. 101.”

In the Start Deck 100 series, decks are random. Finding Deck No. 101 is notoriously difficult (akin to finding a “God Pack” in Western sets). This extreme scarcity drives the price up significantly compared to standard pulls.
