Finally, we get a detailed look at the upcoming re-release of the one Air Max that started it all. Coming together with the sneaker is a special box as seen with previous leaks. [Update 20 Feb 2023] In-hand photos of the upcoming Nike Air Max 1 OG “Big Bubble” have surfaced, thanks to a video posted by @tommy_triggah<\/a> on Instagram. Along with a first look at the men’s pair, we also get to see the special packaging for the pair, which looks like a black and red destressed design that’s certainly fitting for the return of the OG. Stay tuned as we’ll bring you the latest updates leading up to its release!<\/p>\n

[Update 25 Jan 2023] For those looking to relive the Air Max 1 OG’s glory days with your kids, here’s your chance. The Nike Air Max 1 OG “Big Bubble” will release in both PS and TD sizes, as purported by recent images showcasing them. Their retail prices are yet to be confirmed, but stay tuned as we’ll bring you the latest updates as soon as we get them.<\/p>\n

[Update 11 Jan 2023] A release date for the legendary pair has been scheduled for 26 March 2023. Find them on SNKRS come D-Day with an RRP of US$160. Considering that no official images have been shared by Nike yet, any details could still be up in the air. Fret not however, should anything change you can expect an update here!<\/p>\n

Tinker Hatfield is the Michael Jordan of sneaker design, considering how many classics in Nike’s catalog are his. Looking at his expansive body of work, it might appear like he has a special personal connection with the ether. But perhaps, he just knows where to look; having taken inspiration from the work of nature for his contributions to the ACG line, and from the work of man for his contributions to the Jumpman’s. For the titular shoe, he was inspired by the structure of Paris’ Pompidou Center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Air Max 1, debuted on 26th March 1987\u201435 years ago. Considering it’s the catalyst that would start one of Nike’s most successful product lines, it had a relatively short release cycle, never further than the early part of 1987. Although it was set to return this year for its 35th anniversary, it’s possible that the global supply chain issues brought about by the pandemic may have affected it. Hence, the 2023 release date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The pair will be reintroduced in its original incarnation\u2014as Tinker Hatfield intended\u2014with the enlarged air unit and all. Thus, the name “Big Bubble” (aka “Big Window”), as confirmed in the screenshots below of the SNKRS Live episode. The large air unit was minimized subsequently after it was deemed that it could be a cause for durability issues. Expect the silhouette’s second coming to look much like its first, in White-Grey-University Red.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There isn’t much else to go on with aside from the leaked images and its old ad campaigns. When the powers be decide it is time to drop the pair, you can be sure you’ll hear it from us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
