[Update 17 Jul 2025] A new variant of the Gholdengo ex deck includes this card; it’s to be used to accelerate the evolution of the deck’s titular card from Raging Surf [SV3a]<\/a>. This new variant recently saw some success at the 2025 Japan Championships where Kazuki Kasahara took it to 10th place.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Within the context of the Pok\u00e9mon TCG, Mythical Pok\u00e9mon Genesect is best known for its role in the Virizion ex\/Genesect ex deck which was the clear Best Deck in Format (BDIF) in the 2013-14 Pok\u00e9mon TCG tournament season. However, with the release of the Genesect ex card from Black Bolt [SV11B]<\/a>, there’s now a version of a card featuring the Bug\/Steel-type Pok\u00e9mon which will appeal to collectors as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Full Art illustration of this Special Art Rare (SAR) card depicts Genesect ex in a menacing pose, preparing to launch an attack. The card’s background features red lighting\u2014perhaps indicating that Genesect ex is equipped with the Burn Drive, one of four items from the Pok\u00e9mon video games which can be used to manipulate the type of Techno Blast, Genesect’s signature attack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Being a card of the SAR rarity, this card inherently carries some degree of value. Additionally, since Genesect ex is part of Black Bolt [SV11B], part of a dual set designed to cater to Gen 5 nostalgia, those who grew up with Gen 5 are more likely to take an interest in this card.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Release Details<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This card will be released in English on 18 July 2025 as part of Black Bolt [BLK].<\/p>\n\n\n\n
