Nice Kicks and ASICS follow up their first “Nice Cream” collaboration on the Gel Lyte III with another dessert offering in the “Black Sesame”. The former was inspired by the Nice Kicks team’s favorite summer destination, the ice-cream parlor, the latter\u2014inspired by one of Japan’s favorite dessert flavors. Consider it an acquired taste for many, but it does have a loyal following of its own.<\/p>\n
The multi-material, or rather, the multi-ingredient mix sure makes for a ‘delicious’ pair of kicks; from patent leather on the heel, tonal netting as the base, and a splattered mid-piece on the sole unit.<\/p>\n
Aside from the black sesame inspiration on the colorway and the hangtag, the pair adopts the beautiful sometsuke bowls the dessert is usually served in as a motif, evident from the split tongue that runs through to the collar. Additionally, the mint green garnish that accompany the dessert is also referenced by way of the shoelaces and the accent on the rear outsole.<\/p>\n
