Ever since its release in March 2024, Temporal Forces [TEF] has been among the most popular English Pok\u00e9mon TCG sets. The English version of the Japanese dual set Wild Force [SV5K] and Cyber Judge [SV5M], many of its cards are highly sought after by many collectors and have seen their prices climb accordingly. As such, a larger proportion of cards from Temporal Forces [TEF] fetch high prices when compared to other English sets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It may be somewhat surprising to see a card of just the Illustration Rare rarity on this list, but in this case the main driver of the card\u2019s value is the unique nature of its Full Art illustration. Ordinarily, a snowy setting like the one shown on this card would be reserved for a card featuring an Ice-type Pok\u00e9mon, not a Steel\/Psychic-type like Metagross. This novelty factor undoubtedly makes the card stand out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The imagery also provides a gentler side of the pseudo-Legendary: one of the two Metagross shown is rolling a large snowball in the background while the one in the front of the illustration is making a path for itself through the snow alongside a snowplow. Very few imagine Metagross in such a way, making this card an appealing pickup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fact that this card only comes in at #9 on the list may surprise those who are more familiar with the Japanese version, where this card is far and away the most expensive and sought-after. That being said, with this card being a Special Illustration Rare, it remains one of the set\u2019s most impressive pulls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The card\u2019s Full Art illustration depicts Bianca, the assistant of Professor Juniper in the Gen 5 video games Pok\u00e9mon Black 2 and White 2, asleep on a couch while her Musharna floats gently overhead. It\u2019s a scene that speaks to Bianca\u2019s close bond with her Pok\u00e9mon. Of course, one can\u2019t ignore the demographical appeal of the car,d which will cater to many who are interested in this card.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A second Illustration Rare appears on the list\u2014and this card is a true sleeper hit. Though it went well under the radar of most collectors upon release, both in Japan and internationally, interest in this card has grown substantially in recent times. This is reflected by the gradual elevation of its price tag, especially over the past half year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Full Art illustration of this card is a continuation of the one on the Illustration Rare Deerling card depicting Sawsbuck\u2019s pre-evolution. The Deerling, which has now evolved into Sawsbuck continues its path through a forest of multiple different environmental conditions\u2014the factor which triggers a change in Sawsbuck\u2019s form. As such, the card essentially depicts one phase of Sawsbuck\u2019s form changes through the different environments\u2014a unique backstory that adds much appeal to the card.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Swords of Justice\u2014the Legendary Pok\u00e9mon trio of Cobalion, Terrakion, and Virizion\u2014all received Future Paradox Pok\u00e9mon counterparts in Gen 9. Iron Leaves, Virizion\u2019s futuristic counterpart, is the first of two members of the Paradox trio to make an appearance here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The card\u2019s Full Art illustration depicts the Paradox Pok\u00e9mon using its Ability of Rapid Vernier somewhere in Area Zero\u2014the mysterious area in the Great Crater of Paldea where all Paradox Pok\u00e9mon live. Many of the Area Zero-related illustrations on cards from Temporal Forces [TEF] are among the set\u2019s most visually appealing. On top of that, this card also has gameplay utility as in its less rare version, Iron Leaves ex has been included in decks such as the Arceus VSTAR\/Giratina VSTAR and Lost Zone Box decks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the first weeks after the release of Temporal Forces [TEF], this card was one of the most valuable and sought-after; however, it didn\u2019t take long for its price tag to plummet, falling to as low as US$19 in October 2024. However, since the beginning of 2025, this card has seen a massive revival and once again ranks among the set\u2019s most expensive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This Gastly card is the most valuable of all Illustration Rare cards in Temporal Forces [TEF]. Mousho\u2019s Full Art illustration depicts four Gastly surrounded by its evolutions Haunter and Gengar near a dark alley; the imagery encapsulates the brooding yet mischievous nature of the Ghost-type Pok\u00e9mon and its evolutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All three Paradox forms of the Legendary beast trio from Gen 2 are among the set\u2019s top five. First up is Gouging Fire ex, the Pok\u00e9mon-ex version of the Ancient Paradox form of Entei. A Special Illustration Rare card, the card\u2019s Full Art illustration depicts Gouging Fire ex in a ferocious pose atop a boulder in a lush prehistoric rainforest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to the card\u2019s visual appeal and rarity, the card also plays to the nostalgia factor because it\u2019s the ancient version of Entei\u2014an immensely popular Legendary among oldheads, in part due to its role in Pok\u00e9mon 3: The Movie. Gouging Fire ex, in its less rare and expensive iteration, has also served as the centerpiece of a deck that while not necessarily the strongest in current meta, can hold its own in the right hands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What\u2019s interesting about the Morty\u2019s Conviction card from Temporal Forces [TEF] is the fact that unlike its Japanese counterpart from Wild Force [SV5K], it outvalues the other notable Supporter card from the set\u2014Bianca\u2019s Devotion\u2014by a wide margin. There are several clear reasons as to why this is so.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For one thing, the nostalgia factor is in play with this Special Illustration Rare. Since this card depicts the Ecruteak Gym Leader from Gen 2 video games Pok\u00e9mon Gold and Silver, the oldheads who grew up with those games will be drawn to the card. The inclusion of Gengar\u2014Morty\u2019s ace Pok\u00e9mon and one of the most popular among the fandom in general\u2014further elevates demand for it. Add an appealing Full Art illustration and all the pieces are in place for a seriously epic pull.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All of the top three cards are Special Illustration Rares which feature Paradox versions of Legendary Pok\u00e9mon. Ranking as the third most expensive Temporal Forces [TEF] card and topping the trio of the Future Paradox Swords of Justice is the Iron Crown ex card; its price tag outvalues those of the Special Illustration Rares of fellow Future Paradox trio members Iron Leaves ex and Iron Boulder ex combined.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just as Cobalion is the leader of the OG Swords of Justice, so its futuristic Paradox form is the leader of its own trio\u2014evidenced by its imposing pose atop a tree somewhere in Area Zero with the full moon behind it. Further adding to this idea is the name of Iron Crown ex\u2019s Ability: Cobalt Command.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the Pok\u00e9mon Scarlet and Violet video games, Walking Wake\u2014the Ancient Paradox counterpart of Suicune\u2014is the most elusive member of its trio as it\u2019s the only one exclusively available via a special event. In the TCG, Walking Wake ex is depicted on a Special Illustration Rare card which more than lives up to its video game counterpart\u2019s status.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The card\u2019s highly detailed Full Art illustration by Teeziro shows Walking Wake ex on a large tree branch in Area Zero with its two tails outstretched. It\u2019s an image which not only captures the majestic power of the Water\/Dragon-type Ancient Paradox Pok\u00e9mon, but also the foreboding and almost otherworldly vibe of Area Zero. Due to its connections to Suicune, long-time Pok\u00e9mon fans might also be drawn to the nostalgia linked to this card.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ultimately, it wasn\u2019t even close\u2014with a price tag over 1.5 times that of its nearest competitor, Raging Bolt ex is far and away the standout chase card from Temporal Forces [TEF].<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why is this so? Well, for starters, the most important factor behind its immense value is the remarkable Full Art illustration of this Special Illustration Rare card. It\u2019s not only an eye-catching representation of not just Raging Bolt ex itself but Area Zero as well; certain details in the artwork, such as the lightning bolts in the sky (likely generated by Raging Bolt ex itself) as well as the prehistoric fern,s take the card\u2019s visual impact to another level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On top of that, even though players would use the less rare and expensive version of this card, the gameplay prevalence of this card as the centerpiece of the Raging Bolt ex deck\u2014one of the strongest in the current meta\u2014has raised the profile and therefore the price tag of the Special Illustration Rare version. This rare combination of metagame viability, high rarity, and uber-impressive illustration has propelled Raging Bolt ex to its rightful spot on top of the ladder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
