[Update 16 May 2025] While initially reported as being a size?-Exclusive release, it has now been ascertained that this pack will receive a release via New Balance instead. The New Balance 2002R “Protection Pack” will consist of three colorways: “Rain Cloud\/Magnet”, “Sea Salt\/NB White”, and “Phantom\/Magnet”.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

All three will be made available via New Balance Europe on 4 June 2025 for a retail price of 180 Euros (~US$200). There’s a chance a global release will take place on this date too, and if so, the pair will be priced at US$180 in the US. Either way, get a pair via the SNKRDUNK App post-release.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The current sneaker market, saturated with advanced mesh running shoes, contrasts sharply with the scene in 2021. That year, New Balance revived the 2002R model, playing a key role in the revival of this style of footwear. The “Protection Pack,” which presented the sneaker with a distressed, vintage aesthetic, particularly the “Raincloud” colorway, was a major catalyst for the 2002R’s and New Balance’s increased popularity. This original colorway now commands high resale prices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the initial success, New Balance continued to release variations of the 2002R Protection Pack, and even extended the “Protection Pack” treatment to the 1906R. However, nearly two years have passed since the last standard 2002R Protection Pack release (excluding the 2002R Mule). Now, the UK retailer size? is collaborating to bring back this popular design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These new iterations, previewed by size?, maintain the signature “worn” and “ripped” overlays that defined the original. Two of the presented colorways utilize a blend of suede and mesh for the upper, while a third option features a Metallic Silver leather finish, reminiscent of a previous holiday-themed release. The suede versions include a Tan and Metallic Silver combination, and a Black and dark grey colorway. All three pairs are equipped with Cream-colored laces and matching tonal midsole and outsole units.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The New Balance 2002R “Protection Pack” is slated for release in 2025, available through size? online and physical stores. The shoes will be offered in men’s sizes, and the retail price is yet to be disclosed. Stay tuned for more details soon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
