[Update 5 Mar 2025] In light of the recent news, GameStop is now limiting the purchase of Pok\u00e9mon Sleeve packs to 2 per person. They will also be canceling the extras in any order and shipping up to the allowed units for each order.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

GameStop has officially discontinued the preordering of Pok\u00e9mon TCG products\u2014both online and in-store. This ruling came into force on 21 February 2025 by way of an email sent to GameStop employees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The key portion of the email read as follows: \u201cMoving forward, all Pok\u00e9mon TCG products will be shipped directly to stores to encourage more foot traffic. We encourage you to use this opportunity to engage your community through in-store events and introduce them to our services.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to a long-time GameStop manager who preferred to remain unidentified, GameStop chose to take such an action because it was unable to obtain adequate Pok\u00e9mon TCG product allocations. As such, their hands were forced into prioritizing walk-in purchases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, because GameStop had been so stock-deficient that it had to resort to obtaining products from unofficial sources, it has had to raise the prices of its Pok\u00e9mon TCG products. This price increase took effect late last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

GameStop had previously limited the purchases of all Pok\u00e9mon TCG products to two items per customer except for booster packs. Customers may buy five booster packs as per GameStop’s current rules.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
