While all four versions of the Blaziken VMAX card are in and of themselves impressive pulls, the one which has generated the most buzz is the card from Gen 8 set Chilling Reign<\/a>. Beyond its immense rarity, its somewhat controversial art style has long been a major talking point among the Pok\u00e9mon TCG community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About Blaziken VMAX (Chilling Reign 201\/198)<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The card’s Full Art illustration depicts Blaziken VMAX after having Dynamaxed to grow to a gargantuan size; the red clouds of Dynamax energy can be seen around Blaziken VMAX’s head. In the background, a pillar of light representing a Power Spot from which Dynamax energy is derived can be seen; it’s implied that this was the source from which Blaziken VMAX Dynamaxed. Blaziken VMAX is shown towering over a building where a Sobble, Drizzile, Inteleon, and Zangoose can be seen on the rooftop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why, then, was this card’s art style referred to as “controversial”? Well, it’s because while some were big fans of the vivid colors and showy illustration reminiscent of street art, others found it overly gaudy and off-putting with an art style that they felt didn’t suit Blaziken at all\u2014or for some, the Pok\u00e9mon TCG in general. That being said, the heated discourse over this card further elevated its prominence within the community and ultimately served to boost its value.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Release Details<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Japanese version of this card is card 086\/070 from Peerless Fighters [S5a].<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A copy of a Blaziken VMAX (Chilling Reign 201\/198) card has a price of 44,300 JPY (~US$290).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
