The leader of the Revolutionary Army and father of One Piece protagonist Monkey D. Luffy, Monkey D. Dragon has, in spite of his relatively sporadic appearances across the One Piece manga (apart from the Egghead Arc in which he was heavily featured) accumulated a reasonable level of fan popularity. However, this isn’t the only reason why this latest Parallel Art version of a card featuring him has been on the radar of a number of collectors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About Monkey D. Dragon (500 Years in the Future [OP-07] OP07-001)<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Many ONE PIECE Card Game Leader cards have recently received reprints in the rarity of L-SPC\u2014all representing a rarity upgrade from their original versions. This Monkey D. Dragon card is no different; it’s a rarer and more valuable Parallel Art version of the Leader card originally from 500 Years in the Future [OP-07]<\/a>. While the main part of the illustration is the same as the non-Parallel Art version of the original, the holofoil used in the background is different; this creates a visual effect that isn’t present on the original version.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Going back to the earlier point about Dragon having been frequently featured during the manga’s Egghead Arc, this is also relevant to this card’s appeal. That’s because 500 Years in the Future [OP-07] was a set centered around the then-ongoing Egghead Arc. As such, when that card was newly released, there was always the possibility of new developments in Dragon’s character and narrative arcs to drop at any time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Monkey D. Dragon (500 Years in the Future [OP-07] OP07-001) card with a rarity of L-SPC has a sale price of 4,500 JPY (~US$29).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
