An epicenter of a cultural revolution, CBGB, is a legendary music venue in New York City that ignited the punk rock revolution in the 1970s, nurturing the careers of iconic bands like the Ramones, Blondie, and Talking Heads. Even after its closure in 2006, CBGB’s legacy continues to reverberate through the canyons of the concrete jungle. Now, Nike lays flowers on its epitaph with the release of the Nike Dunk Low \u201cCBGB\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The titular Nike Dunk Low \u201cCBGB\u201d can be considered a wearable relic, a paean to a bygone era. The soft lilac leather upper is juxtaposed against the dark steel grey cracked leather overlays, \u00e0 la the weathered facade of the legendary club.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A kaleidoscope of colors unfolded across the upper. The red Nike branding on the tongue and heel strikes a chord of familiarity, reminiscent of CBGB’s logo. Inside, the insoles transform into a canvas, adorned with vivid sticker-style graphics that pay homage to the posters and flyers that once plastered the club’s walls. These illustrations are a portal to a cherished past, harkening to the electrifying mosh pits and the cacophony of rebellious anthems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
