The year 2000 witnessed the genesis of atmos, the brainchild of Hidefumi Hommyo, which has since blossomed into a global sneaker emporium boasting a network of nearly 50 boutiques. Though its physical presence in the United States has receded, atmos remains a formidable force in both retail and the realm of collaborative ventures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, as the brand approaches its landmark 25th anniversary, it prepares to unfurl a series of celebratory collaborations, commencing with a reunion with longtime partner ASICS. This commemorative endeavor is further amplified by the inclusion of a third luminary: GRIP SWANY, the esteemed Japanese purveyor of outerwear, previously allied with atmos on a collaborative Crocs<\/a> venture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This tripartite alliance infuses the GT-2160 silhouette with GRIP SWANY\u2019s hallmark golden hue. This vivid shade graces the piping of the nubuck tiger stripes and select overlays, including segments of the suede mudguard and the supple leather heel, introducing a contrast against the pair’s predominantly black backdrop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The GT-2160\u2019s mesh construction forms the foundation, while robust, boot-inspired laces, complete with a toggle closure, further presents GRIP SWANY\u2019s rugged aesthetic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This first look of the pair offers an incomplete portrait, but much can be discerned nevertheless. The GT-2160\u2019s foam midsole is rendered in black, punctuated by artful white splatter paint details and further accentuated by yellow piping near the toe. A black rubber outsole, bisected by a yellow shank at the midfoot, completes this carefully considered composition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 25th anniversary edition of this GRIP SWANY x atmos Tokyo x ASICS GT-2160 is slated for release sometime this year, exclusively through atmos\u2019 brick-and-click stores.
