Among serious Air Jordan collectors, Simon Voltaire Tan, going by @depeche23mode<\/a> on Instagram, is a well-known figure. Highly respected in the collecting community, his collection is so impressive that prominent figures in the sneaker world often seek him out to acquire coveted pieces. Over ten years ago, an interview revealed Tan had streamlined his collection to around 20 pairs. Since then, it has expanded significantly, and he has begun auctioning off some of these rare finds on eBay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One such item is an extremely rare Air Jordan 3 Tinker “UNC”. This version, based on the Air Jordan 3 Tinker, incorporates the University of North Carolina (UNC) theme. It features the UNC logo on the heel and University Blue accents on the laces, Jumpman logo, and interchangeable Swoosh logos. This sample was never released publicly, likely reserved for individuals connected to Jordan Brand and the UNC program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Air Jordan 3 Tinker itself draws inspiration from Tinker Hatfield’s original sketches for the Air Jordan 3. It typically includes a Swoosh on the upper and “NIKE” embossed on the collar. This particular pair, however, features “1986” instead. While it’s uncertain whether Tan plans to sell this specific pair, its rarity has already attracted attention, with even DJ Khaled commenting on it on Instagram.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
