[Update 5 Aug 2025] This card’s place in the metagame has now begun to decline as a result of the rise of the Jellicent ex card from White Flare [SV11W]<\/a> and Oceanic Curse, its Ability which has similar Item-locking capabilities to Budew’s Itchy Pollen attack.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

[Update 2 May 2025] Following the recent international rotation, this card’s dominance has soared to levels almost unheard of. At this point, the majority of tournament decks are now including at least one copy of this Budew card. It’s now been clearly proven to be a card that has almost single-handedly changed how the Pok\u00e9mon TCG is fundamentally played at the tournament level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

[Update 6 Feb 2025] Already a staple of many different decks, the latest deck to include this card is a new variant of the Klawf\/Terapagos ex deck<\/a>. Interestingly, the Budew variant of that deck works best when the player goes second; nevertheless, it still does have some degree of viability even when the player goes first.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

[Update 18 Dec 2024] Not even two weeks since this card’s release, this exceptionally splashable card has been seen in City League tournament decks all over Japan. Its highly effective item locking capabilities are the result of its Itchy Pollen attack which denies the opponent the opportunity to play any Item cards from the hand during the opponent’s next turn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once this card is released internationally, expect it to become a mainstay of the international Pok\u00e9mon TCG scene just as it already has in Japan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the standout features of newly-released Pok\u00e9mon TCG set Terastal Festival ex [SV8a] card is the presence of Master Ball Mirror cards which are making a return to the Pok\u00e9mon TCG for the first time since Pok\u00e9mon Card 151 [SV2a]<\/a>. Although Terastal Festival ex [SV8a] is primarily centered around the Eeveelutions including their respective Master Ball Mirror cards, this doesn’t mean that the set’s other Master Ball Mirror cards ought to go overlooked\u2014such as the Budew Master Ball Mirror card.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About Budew Master Ball Mirror (Terastal Festival ex [SV8a] 001\/187)<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Like all other Master Ball Mirror cards, this Budew Master Ball Mirror card features a “cracked ice” background as well as a textured Master Ball print on that background. Master Ball Mirror cards are much rarer than their ordinary counterparts; this additional rarity coupled with the unique qualities of the card itself elevate the card’s value.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The card’s illustration by Yoshiyuki Ikegami depicts Budew standing among a mass of flowers to match its Grass type; the use of a watercolor-esque art style adds to the visual effect of the floral setting. In addition, this is the first new Budew card to be released since 2008 when a Budew card was launched as part of fourth-generation set Intense Fight in the Destroyed Sky, adding another layer of interest to those seeking this card.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
