[Update 18 Jun 2025] This card is now featured in an increasingly common variant of the Flareon ex\/Noctowl deck. It’s primarily intended to be a counter against the Marnie’s Grimmsnarl deck; it’s also able to heal damage sustained by the player’s Benched Pok\u00e9mon, making it a viable option against decks reliant on spread damage.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

While it may be true that Grass-type Eeveelution Leafeon has never exactly been the most popular of Eevee’s eight evolutions, recently-released Pok\u00e9mon TCG set Terastal Festival ex [SV8a]<\/a> brought with it a card that might go some way to putting this sometimes overlooked Eeveelution back into the spotlight. The Special Art Rare (SAR) Leafeon ex card, like the other Eeveelution cards which are Pok\u00e9mon-ex, ranks among the set’s leading pickups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About Leafeon ex (Terastal Festival ex [SV8a] 200\/187)<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The card makes use of a crystalline motif that can be seen across every card that depicts a Pok\u00e9mon-ex which has Terastallized into the Stellar type\u2014such as this one. The Full Art illustration also shows Leafeon ex being true to its type; it appears to be position on a stylized rendering of a tree branch in a forest\u2014apt for the Grass-type Eeveelution. The forest-like background art could also be a reference to the forests in Pok\u00e9mon video games from the fourth to eighth generations which contain Moss Rocks around which when Eevee is leveled up, it will evolve into Leafeon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On a related note, Leafeon ex’s second attack is named “Moss Agate”. While, like all other primary attacks of Stellar-type Terastallized Pok\u00e9mon-ex, it makes use of the name of a jewel, the name was also selected as an additional allusion to the Moss Rock. The attack’s inclusion of a Water Energy card as an Energy requirement also references Glaceon, the Eeveelution alongside which Leafeon was introduced back in Gen 4.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Release Details<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

No information about this version of the Glaceon ex card’s English release is yet out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The price of a Leafeon ex (Terastal Festival ex [SV8a] 200\/187) card is 5,000 JPY (~US$33).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
