Thirty years since his tragic passing at the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix, Ayrton Senna continues to be remembered by the Formula One world. The accident was the catalyst for driver safety reform in the sport. In tandem with Netflix’s release of a mini-series dedicated to the Brazilian McLaren driver’s life and legacy, ASICS announced a two-piece GEL-KAYANO 14 pack as a tribute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Arriving in two colorways, “McLaren” and “Lotus,” each inspired by Senna’s racing career, the first pair, a nod to his McLaren days, showcases a black, white, and red color scheme reminiscent of the legendary MP4\/4 and MP4\/5 cars. The Japanese characters “Ayrton Senna” adorn the heel, while the McLaren logo is replaced by a subtle “S” insignia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inspired by Senna’s time at Lotus, the second pair is engulfed in a black and gold color palette. The green, navy, and yellow accents on the heel tag pay homage to the Brazilian flag.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Release Details<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

While images are scant at the time of writing, the “McLaren” and “Lotus” Ayrton Senna x ASICS GEL-KAYANO 14 are confirmed for release on 9 December in Brazil and a global launch on 10 December. More details should arrive in the coming days, so stay tuned!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
