[Update 21 Nov 2024] In less than a week since the card’s release, this card’s price has already risen to astronomical figures. A copy of a Kanan the Swordmistress card from Quarter Century Limited Pack which features the original Yu-Gi-Oh TCG layout has almost doubled in price from an already enormous sum in just a few days; it now sells for a massive 270,000 JPY (~US$1,741)!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of the 25 reprinted cards in the recently-distributed Yu-Gi-Oh TCG product Quarter Century Limited Pack<\/a>, by far the standout of them was the Kanan the Swordmistress card with the old Yu-Gi-Oh TCG card layout. It’s a true classic of the TCG which has now been revived for its fifth iteration\u2014but this time with a retro twist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About Kanan the Swordmistress (Quarter Century Limited Pack) <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A major part of this card’s appeal has to do with the fact that it uses the old-school Yu-Gi-Oh TCG card layout. This factor is sure to add much nostalgic appeal to long-time Yu-Gi-Oh fans who will recognize it right away. Of course, the fact that the card depicts a female character\u2014and one of the best-known within the Yu-Gi-Oh franchise at that\u2014gives it a further value boost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The last time a Kanan the Swordmistress card was launched was back in 2019, as a promotional card in honor of the 10,000th Yu-Gi-Oh TCG card to be released. Although the card’s first-ever version was out in 1999, there have typically been large time gaps between most subsequent reprints of it\u2014including one of almost 16 years between V Jump August 1999 Special Present Set A (1999) and Duelist Road -Piece of Memory- Side: Yugi Muto (2015). As such, the release of this card in Quarter Century Limited Pack was greeted with much interest by the Yu-Gi-Oh community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Interestingly, this particular version of the card doesn’t have a serial number. That might actually add to its appeal because it could be regarded as a gimmick which very few other cards have. It’s also worth noting that despite being an Ultra Rare, the version with the old card layout has a far higher value than the Quarter Century Secret Rare version with the present-day layout.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
