Thorton has been a staple of Pok\u00e9mon TCG tournament decks ever since the card’s introduction in Lost Abyss [S11]. A highly versatile Supporter card that’s a viable option in a wide range of scenarios, this card adds much flexibility and supplies pivoting options to the decks it’s in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About Thorton (Lost Abyss [S11] 115\/100)<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

When played, Thorton allows the player to exchange one of the player’s Basic Pok\u00e9mon in play with one in the discard pile. All of the swapped-out Pok\u00e9mon’s attached cards, Special Conditions, turns in play, and damage counters are transferred to the Pok\u00e9mon being brought in from the discard pile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are many possible applications for this card. This card could be used to bring in a Pok\u00e9mon straight from the discard pile which would be fully powered up upon entering the field. Thorton might also save a Pok\u00e9mon at risk of a KO by sending it to the discard pile and exchanging it for one with a larger HP tally; a similar tactic can be used in defensive decks for a more effective stall. It’s also possible to use Thorton to bring in a Basic Pok\u00e9mon that’s crucial for the deck’s setup play.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of the three versions of the Thorton card which were released in Lost Abyss [S11], the most notable is the Super Rare (SR) version. That card has a Full Art illustration which depicts the Frontier Brain of the Battle Factory located in the Sinnoh region’s Battle Frontier glancing at a device, likely to gather information on the rental Pok\u00e9mon to be used. This card’s effect also alludes to the Battle Factory. In the Pok\u00e9mon video games, the player uses rental Pok\u00e9mon in the Battle Factory and has the option to exchange one Pok\u00e9mon after each victory. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The English version of this card is card 195\/196 in Lost Origin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
