The leader of the Revolutionary Army, most wanted criminal by the World Government in the One Piece canon, and father of series protagonist Monkey D. Luffy, Monkey D. Dragon will likely take on an increasingly larger role in the storyline as the manga approaches its climax. Likely to capitalize on this fact, BANDAI recently released an alternate-art reprint of the Monkey D. Dragon card from ONE PIECE Card Game set 500 Years in the Future [OP-07]<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About Monkey D. Dragon (500 Years in the Future [OP-07] OP07-015)<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This card comes in the rarity of Super Rare Special (SR-SPC); this high rarity level inherently elevates the card’s value. Dragon’s likely upcoming relevance to the overarching plot will also cause this card’s value to remain high, as will the fact that this card has an alternate-art illustration. Interestingly, although Dragon has been frequently seen in manga chapters released over the past few months, he hasn’t yet done much of major storyline importance\u2014but this is likely to change before too long.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While some might have expected the background to contain some imagery of the Revolutionary Army which Dragon leads, this actually isn’t the case on this card. That being said, the jagged lines on the pattern that covers the background give the imagery a forceful, somewhat threatening aura that does convey an aura of Dragon’s true power and alludes to the threat he poses to the World Government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Monkey D. Dragon (500 Years in the Future [OP-07] OP07-015) card of SR-SPC rarity sells for 4,500 JPY (~US$32).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
