[Update 17 Dec 2024] This card is now an important part of a new Regidrago VSTAR deck variant with both of its attacks serving crucial functions in it. Tropical Frenzy not only deals a significant chunk of damage at 150; it also accelerates setup and Energy ramping. Swinging Sphene, meanwhile, picks up an auto-KO on one of the opponent’s Basic Pok\u00e9mon, either picking off a major threat or disrupting the opponent’s setup.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both attacks are usually used not by Alolan Exeggutor ex itself, but by the deck’s titular card<\/a> from Paradigm Trigger [S12] through its Apex Dragon attack.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

To say that the introduction of the Alolan regional variant of Exeggutor back in the seventh generation was controversial and divisive would be a severe understatement. Many Pok\u00e9mon fans lambasted the Coconut Pok\u00e9mon’s new design as well as the decision to make its Alolan version a Grass\/Dragon-type as opposed to its usual Grass\/Psychic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Others lauded the new form, claiming that it was a prime example of Nintendo’s penchant for subverting expectations en route to putting out unique concepts. In either case, this controversy gave Alolan Exeggutor more of a spotlight than what many would’ve initially expected\u2014a big reason why its card from Pok\u00e9mon TCG set Paradise Dragona [SV7a]<\/a> is in serious demand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About Alolan Exeggutor ex (Paradise Dragona [SV7a] 089\/064) <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This Alolan Exeggutor ex card directly alludes to the Terarium, the area located beneath Blueberry Academy which serves as a training ground containing all manner of Pok\u00e9mon. Despite being located in the Unova region, all Exeggcute which evolve in the Coastal Biome of the Terarium will evolve into Alolan Exeggutor. The Terarium is clearly visible in the background of this Special Art Rare (SAR) card’s Full Art illustration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The card shows Alolan Exeggutor ex after it has Terastallized into the Stellar type. This will add further demand to the card due to the novelty factor; the Terastallization-exclusive Stellar type is a recent addition to both the Pok\u00e9mon video games and TCG. Additionally, Terastallized Pok\u00e9mon-ex cards are often in great demand due to their unique art style that emphasizes the crystalline appearances that the Pok\u00e9mon take on after Terastallizing. This card will likely be no exception.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This card also features a narrative illustration. The Art Rare (AR) Exeggcute card from Paradise Dragona [SV7a] depicts an Exeggcute on a basketball court. The Alolan Exeggutor ex shown on this card is the evolved version of that same Exeggcute on that AR card. This narrative element is sure to make this card more coveted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
