One of the most iconic and valuable ONE PIECE Card Game cards of all time is the Monkey D. Luffy Manga Rare from Awakening of the New Era [OP-05]<\/a>. That card is most notable for being the first ONE PIECE Card Game depiction of Luffy in his Gear 5 form; it also contains several other subtle allusions such as being part of a set named “Awakening of the New Era”\u2014a reference to Luffy’s awakening of his Devil Fruit\u2014as well as being in the fifth set. While the Gear 5 Luffy Leader card from Emperors in the New World [OP-09] is unlikely to reach quite that level, it’s nevertheless a card with much demand for it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It should be obvious as to why this is a card that’s become one of the standouts of its set. Any card featuring Luffy’s Gear 5 form is certain to be a major pull. This is also the first Gear 5 Luffy Leader card, meaning that it’ll be possible to build a deck centered around this card. While decks built around this card might not necessarily be the most metagame-relevant, the very fact that a Gear 5 Luffy deck is now possible will almost certainly draw people to this card.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The card depicts Luffy in his signature Gear 5 pose\u2014one recognizable not only to One Piece fans, but also nearly anyone who has even a semblance of manga and anime knowledge. It’s also fitting that this card was released as part of Emperors in the New World [OP-09]<\/a> because this set is focused on the Four Emperors; Luffy was named as one of the four after defeating Kaido at the end of the manga’s Wano Country Arc\u2014he did so after gaining access to his Gear 5 form.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The English version of this card will be out along with the rest of Emperors in the New World [OP-09] in December 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The price of a Monkey D. Luffy (Emperors in the New World [OP-09] OP09-061) card of LP rarity is 9,000 JPY (~US$63).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
