One of the most common questions asked by those who might not be the most well-versed in the canonical material of One Piece is if the One Piece movies are part of the canon. The answer to that question is “the movies are not canon, but the characters introduced in them are”. One such character introduced in a One Piece movie is Uta from One Piece Film: Red\u2014and in Emperors in the New World [OP-09], the ONE PIECE Card Game card depicting her goes in a somewhat unexpected direction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About<\/strong> Uta (Emperors in the New World [OP-09] OP09-002)<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Although Uta has appeared on multiple ONE PIECE Card Game cards to date and has even been the focus of a Starter Deck<\/a>, none of her appearances have thus far shown her as a child\u2014until now. While this may be surprising, it makes sense in the context of the set. Emperors in the New World [OP-09] is a set which primarily spotlights the Four Emperors. Uta is the adopted daughter of Shanks, who is one of the Four Emperors. As such, it therefore makes sense that the card features Uta as a child.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This card also showcases narrative continuity because Uta is shown on the Red Hair Pirates’ ship, referencing the fact that she was largely raised there. In addition, many of the cards from previous sets which have featured Uta have seen their values rise owing to the “female character effect”, indirectly driving up this card’s price as well. (Of course, we’d like to emphasize the word “indirectly” because… well, you know why.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Release Details<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In December 2024, this card’s English version will be out as will the rest of Emperors in the New World [OP-09].<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The price of an Uta (Emperors in the New World [OP-09] OP09-009) card is 3,300 JPY (~US$23).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
