[Update 20 Feb 2025] This card is now part of a new variant of the Red\/Purple Luffy deck for board control purposes. After deramping by 1 DON!!, the player can rest an opposing Character card with a cost of 6 or less. Doing so either makes the targeted card vulnerable to KO’s or forces the opponent to use up resources to protect that card.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite not necessarily being among the standout gets of the entire Emperors in the New World [OP-09]<\/a> set, this Sanji card has nevertheless ended up becoming an underrated pickup. Much of this can be attributed to his relatively prominent role in the events of the now-concluding Egghead Arc of the One Piece manga.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About<\/strong> Sanji (Emperors in the New World [OP-09] OP09-065)<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The illustration of this Super Rare Parallel (SR-P) card emphasizes Sanji’s combat capabilities as shown by the camera angle focused on his right leg as well as the flames in the background\u2014a reference to his Black Leg Style. This is because Sanji was shown in battle alongside the rest of the Straw Hat Pirates throughout much of the Egghead Arc; these were against S-Shark and Borsalino as well as three of the Five Elders: Jaygarcia Saturn, Ethanbaron V. Nusjuro, and Marcus Mars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Part of this card’s popularity is also likely to be driven by the continued success of the One Piece live-action series on Netflix. In the live-action version, Taz Skylar\u2014the actor who plays the role of Sanji\u2014has turned out to be the breakout star of the series. This in turn has further increased the popularity of his manga counterpart and thus given this card additional value.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Release Details<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This card’s English release will be in December 2024, just like the rest of Emperors in the New World [OP-09].<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A copy of a Sanji (Emperors in the New World [OP-09] OP09-065) card of SR-P rarity costs 2,300 JPY (~US$16).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
