Released during the sixth generation of the Pok\u00e9mon TCG, the Poncho-wearing Pikachu series of promotional cards was a resounding success. Launched between December 2015 and August 2016, every single one of these cards\u2014including this Mega Charizard X version of the card\u2014has gone on to accumulate impressive price tags and lofty reputations within the Pok\u00e9mon TCG community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First off, the fact that the card not only depicts Pikachu\u2014the face of the Pok\u00e9mon franchise\u2014but also Pikachu in a “gimmicky” form gives the card an inherent level of demand. Adding to this, the Pok\u00e9mon featured on Pikachu’s poncho is Mega Charizard X. Charizard is not only one of the most popular Pok\u00e9mon of them all; both of its Mega Evolutions also have immense appeal among Pok\u00e9mon fans as a whole.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, the Mega Evolution from Pok\u00e9mon X is even more popular than its counterpart from Y, likely due to its color scheme. The black Shiny form of Charizard is among the most iconic Shiny forms of any Pok\u00e9mon. Mega Charizard X somewhat resembles this, being mostly black while its flames burn blue. Topping it all off is the fact that this is a limited-edition card which will never be reprinted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The card alludes to one of the most iconic Gen 6 cards\u2014the Mega Charizard ex card from Wild Blaze [XY2]<\/a>. The attack with the name that serves as the set’s title is referenced here, but this time as “Wild Blaze?” to refer to the fact that this isn’t the real Mega Charizard X.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This card was never released in English.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A copy of a Poncho-wearing Pikachu (XY-P Promotional Cards 207\/XY-P) card goes for a massive figure\u2014a whopping 550,000 JPY (~US$3,757)!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
