Shalour Gym Leader Korrina plays an important role in the early stages of Pok\u00e9mon X and Y, the main-series Pok\u00e9mon video games of the sixth generation. After the player defeats Korrina at Shalour Gym, Korrina will ask the player for a rematch on top of the Tower of Mastery. Following victory in the rematch, the player will unlock Mega Evolution after Korrina gives the player the Mega Ring. Although Mega Evolution in the Pok\u00e9mon TCG was discontinued when Gen 6 ended, Korrina remained popular among the fans\u2014as evidenced by the considerable interest in the Korrina’s Focus card from Rapid Strike Master [S5R].<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the Full Art illustration of this Super Rare (SR) card, the Fighting-type specialist’s roller skates\u2014her signature feature\u2014are clearly and prominently shown. The fact that Korrina is skating in a waterside area is a direct reference to both halves of the dual set of which Rapid Strike Master [S5R] is a part.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rapid Strike Master [S5R] and its counterpart set Single Strike Master [S5I] are based on The Isle of Armor, the first DLC of Gen 8’s Pok\u00e9mon Sword and Shield video games. The central Pok\u00e9mon of that DLC as well as the dual set is Urshifu, a Legendary Pok\u00e9mon that in its Rapid Strike Style form is a Fighting\/Water-type. As mentioned, Korrina is a Fighting-type specialist; having her near the water is therefore an allusion to Rapid Strike Style Urshifu. This card itself is also part of the Rapid Strike Master [S5R] set which references that set. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This being a card on which a female character is the focus, it’s to be expected that the card’s demand gets a boost via fan demographics. In addition, Korrina’s raised leg does give the image a slightly suggestive feel which might further contribute to the card’s appeal among that demographic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The English version of this card is card 160\/163 from Battle Styles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A copy of a Korrina’s Focus (Rapid Strike Master [S5R] 079\/070) card has a price of 8,000 JPY (~US$55).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
