Batam’s Rise of the Sneakers (RoTS), an event dedicated to celebrating sneaker culture in all its facets, returns for its third edition. Themed “The Playground,” this year’s iteration futhers the event’s purpose of creating an inclusive and dynamic atmosphere that caters to sneaker enthusiasts of all ages and backgrounds, pushing to the fore sneaker culture’s high-spirited and inclusive nature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Taking place between 1 to 4 August at Grand Batam Mall, RoTS: The Playground is supported by Batam’s vibrant youth community, alongside familiar names in the national and regional street culture scene. The likes of GEL MOVEMENT Indonesia<\/a> (ASICS community), Dexter Tan<\/a> (co-founder of Singapore’s Sole Superior<\/a>), Isser James<\/a> (sneakerhead and digital creator), Kreate<\/a> from Urbain Inc.<\/a>, and renowned B-Boy Casavaz<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Blending creativity, commerce, and culture, Rise of The Sneakers 2024 will showcase about two dozen vendors from Jakarta, Batam, and Singapore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In line with the curated shopping experience, the event will introduce the debut collection of RoTS’ in-house brand, offering apparel and accessories with a functional and aesthetic lean. This expansion into the world of merchandise marks a significant step for the brand, with products accessible across the above-mentioned core markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another highlight is the return of the Giant Shoe Box, reimagined through a collaboration with local architecture firm SelasARS. A closed design competition will be held with the theme, “BRUTALISM PLAYGROUND,” where architects and designers will compete to create the best design for the Giant Shoe Box.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally yet importantly, a custom-composed anthem\u2014”The Playground”\u2014by local rappers Hazim<\/a> and Widzard<\/a>, will provide a musical backdrop that encapsulates the spirit of Rise of The Sneakers: The Playground.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
