When Lost Abyss [S11] was first launched just over two years ago, not many people would’ve expected the Super Rare (SR) Aerodactyl V card to end up as one of the set’s most prized gets. That, however, is exactly what happened\u2014and the bulk of it has to do with Nurikabe’s stunning Full Art illustration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The card’s imagery depicts a prehistoric scene. Aerodactyl V is flying over a river; other prehistoric Pok\u00e9mon are also visible in, by, or just over the river as well. Several Shieldon and Bastiodon can be seen standing by the riverbank; in the far background are a few Rampardos. Rounding out the image are some Tirtouga emerging from the river, a pair of Tropius standing on the grass near the shore, and a few Archeops flying at a low height.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The level of detailed storytelling in this card’s illustration is truly stunning. Prehistoric Pok\u00e9mon have often been somewhat overlooked by the Pok\u00e9mon fan community in general; as such, the ultra-detailed glimpse into the distant past of the Pok\u00e9mon universe that this card provides elevates the card’s value to remarkable heights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, the black V’s in the corners of the card that denote Aerodactyl V’s status as a Pok\u00e9mon V enhance the visual effect. Their color and sharp edges further highlight Aerodactyl V’s menacing look.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The English version of this card is card 180\/196 from the Lost Origin set.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A copy of an Aerodactyl V (Lost Abyss [S11] 106\/100) card of SR rarity sells for 6,900 (nice!) JPY (~US$44).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
