On 15 July, Nike sued him for US$60M due to his alleged &#8220;illicit Nike empire&#8221; and Surgeon Academy courses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nike claims The Shoe Surgeon, known for his high-end custom creations based on popular Nike silhouettes, has infringed on over 30 of its trademarks. The compensation it is seeking covers damages, which it alleges represent &#8220;trebled profits from counterfeiting&#8221; by The Shoe Surgeon, along with attorney fees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While The Shoe Surgeon has collaborated with Nike in the past on one-off pieces for athletes like LeBron James, Nike argues that these collaborations were limited exceptions. The lawsuit highlights The Shoe Surgeon&#8217;s practice of creating and selling custom Nikes without authorization, as well as offering classes that teach others how to replicate Nike&#8217;s designs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Nike&#8217;s PR team, the lawsuit is a last resort after years of unsuccessful attempts to privately resolve the issue.
