The announcement made earlier this year that Pok\u00e9mon Legends Z-A, an upcoming prequel to sixth-generation main series Pok\u00e9mon video games Pok\u00e9mon X and Y, would be on its way next year drove up the Pok\u00e9mon fandom’s interest in all things Gen 6-related. The Pok\u00e9mon TCG was no exception; many sixth-generation cards have since seen spikes in demand and value. The Palkia card from the Legendary Shine Collection [CP2] is one such card.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As has been alluded to, the Legendary Shine Collection [CP2] is a set from the Pok\u00e9mon TCG’s sixth generation; thus, cards from it are well-positioned to capitalize on the newfound hype brought by the Pok\u00e9mon Legends Z-A announcement. Additionally, Palkia itself is a beneficiary of the nostalgia for a past generation brought by a prequel; namely, Pok\u00e9mon Legends Arceus, the much-lauded prequel to Pok\u00e9mon Diamond and Pearl. Palkia is among the featured Legendaries in Pok\u00e9mon Legends Arceus, alluding to its status as the box Legendary of Pok\u00e9mon Pearl.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The card also features an eye-catching Full Art illustration showing Palkia ferociously unleashing its Cross Slicer attack. In addition to the lines across the card’s image that highlight the attack’s impact, there’s also a narrative element in play.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There’s a Latios in the background of the card’s illustration. That Latios is the one which is featured on its own card, also from the Legendary Shine Collection [CP2]. A third card from this set\u2014a Zekrom card\u2014is part of the narrative as well. On that card, this same Palkia can be seen in the background of the image.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The English version of this card is card XY75 from the XY Black Star Promos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The price of a Palkia (Legendary Shine Collection [CP2] 005\/027) card is 12,500 JPY (~US$77).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
