Almost as soon as it entered the game in July 2022 as part of the Lost Abyss [S11] set, the role it would play in these decks was obvious.

As is the case with many other key cards in Lost Zone-related decks, Mirage Gate requires a set number of cards in the Lost Zone before being used (in this case, seven). It allows the player to attach two basic Energy cards of different types to any of the player’s Pokémon in any arrangement.

The main Pokémon to be powered up via Mirage Gate depends on the deck in question. If it’s a Giratina VSTAR deck, Mirage Gate should be used to retrieve a Grass and a Psychic Energy card for the titular card, setting up its Lost Impact attack. as well as Star Requiem, its VSTAR Power. Lost Zone Box deck players, meanwhile, should go with an Electric and a Dark Energy card. Doing so puts the Iron Hands ex card from Future Flash [SV4M] and the Roaring Moon ex card from Ancient Roar [SV4K] in position to do serious damage.

The Dragapult Lost Zone Box deck is a more recent Lost Zone-based deck to emerge. Those playing that deck should seek a Fire and a Psychic Energy card for the Dragapult ex card from Mask of Change [SV6]. This allows it to attack with Phantom Dive.

The English translation of this card is card 163/196 from the Lost Origin set.

Not particularly rare, a Mirage Gate (Lost Abyss [S11] 092/100) card can be purchased for just 300 JPY (~US$1.91).

In other TCG-related news, check out the Boss’s Orders card from Start Deck 100 [S1]. Alternatively, you can also head over to the SNKRDUNK App via the banner below and find the top trending and latest single cards and boxes.

There’s no question that in any Pokémon TCG deck centered on the Lost Zone, the most important Item card is Mirage Gate.
