[Update 27 Sep 2024] This card now has an important place in the metagame\u2014specifically, in the Red\/Blue Marco deck. As might be expected, this Newgate card is one of the deck’s hardest-hitting late-game attackers; on top of that, it has an insta-KO effect on opposing Characters with 3000 Power or less. The card also adds 2000 Power to the Marco card which is the deck’s Leader card.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A former member of the Four Emperors and a key character throughout the One Piece manga’s Marineford Arc, Edward “Whitebeard” Newgate had been regarded as the most powerful figure in-universe prior to being killed off in the Summit War of Marineford. Due to the fact that ONE PIECE Card Game set Paramount War [OP-02] is largely based on the events of the Summit War of Marineford, it was always like that this Newgate card would be among the set’s most sought-after cards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This Super Rare Parallel (SR-P) card depicts Newgate as the mega-powerful warrior that he was via the close-up angle of his abdomen and the battle scars on it. To further bring out his “aura”, there are lightning bolts clearly visible in the background sky.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The focus on Newgate’s abdomen is also a reference to his iconic death scene. During the Summit War, Newgate was killed via a barrage of bullets and cannonball shots as well as as countless slashings and stabbings\u2014all through his front. Thus, those who closely follow the One Piece manga will recognize the foreshadowing shown on this card.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This card has already been released in English.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The price of an Edward Newgate (Paramount War [OP-02] OP02-004) card of SR-P rarity is 2,500 JPY (~US$16).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
