[Update 20 May 2024] More details about the Nike Sabrina 2 have surfaced. The silhouette is 28 grams lighter than the Sabrina 1 and boasts a plush Cushlon 3.0 foam midsole—the first in a Nike basketball shoe—for comfort and stability.

An updated band system makes for a secure, glove-like fit, and a new “S”-inspired herringbone pattern on the outsole is good for multidirectional traction. All of these elements, put together, make this pair ideal for players who want a shoe that can help them accelerate and cut quickly.

These performance elements are the result of Ionescu’s personal input, women-specific research and insights, and validation with male athletes for unisex wearability.

The silhouette will also be accompanied by an adult apparel collection that includes two tees, a hoodie, a pair of shorts, and a reversible bomber jacket. A parallel kids’ collection will also be released, containing a hoodie and a pair of shorts.

Just recently, Sabrina Ionescu expressed her excitement about the Sabrina 2’s potential to further bridge the gap between men’s and women’s basketball footwear as she was teasing its imminent release coming soon. And soon is in June.

This “Cave Purple” iteration of the Nike Sabrina 2 builds upon the original’s design, offering enhanced performance features for dynamic play. Notably, the heel’s textile overlay shifts towards the collar, while a large panel with a reinforced toe extends from the lateral side, integrating seamlessly with the midfoot’s cable support system. The iconic Swoosh on the medial side maintains its vertical presence near the heel.

Personalized touches celebrate Sabrina. Her logo graces the tongue, and the side Swoosh shimmers with an iridescent finish against the striking cave purple backdrop. Her signature adorns the midfoot on the sole, solidifying her mark on the shoe.

Performance features include a responsive Air Zoom-cushioned foam midsole and a grippy rubber outsole for optimal court control. This colorway features a captivating mix of Black and Purple, with the vibrant Purple highlighting the toe, eyelet, heel textile, and sole unit. Black accents appear on the canvas toe, mesh midfoot, tongue, heel tab, and sockliner.

The Nike Sabrina 2 Tunnel Vision “Cave Purple” is slated for a 28 June 2024 release via Nike brick-and-click stores. The shoe is available in adult and grade school sizes, and its retail price is US$130 and US$100, respectively.
