One such card is the Gimmick Puppet Fanatix Makina card from the Infinite Forbidden Core Booster.

A card which can come in Quarter Century Secret Rare, it has a name that’s a partial play on the expression “deus ex machina” or “god from the machine”—a phrase referring to an obviously overpowered and contrived solution to a particular situation. While it’s true that gameplay-wise this card doesn’t quite live up to this tag (or else it would be a definite candidate for the banlist), there are nonetheless several other reasons why many seek this card.

This card will primarily appeal to fans of Yu-Gi-Oh ZEXAL due to its multiple references to the series. Gimmick Puppet Fanatix Makina is visually based on Quattro, a character who uses the Gimmick Puppet archetype in the anime. The blades on its wrists resemble Quattro’s Duel Disk while on its chest, Quattro’s crest is clearly visible.

The card’s original ATK and DEF are also references to Quattro; specifically, his in-series codename of “IV”. Its DEF of 3100 includes the numbers 3 and 1, which when added become 4 (IV). Its ATK, meanwhile, includes the numbers 1 (I) and 5 (V).

This card is also connected to the Servist Puppet card. By combining the “Fanatix” portion of the name of this card with the “Servist” portion of the Servist Puppet card, the word “fanservice” can be created. That word refers to Quattro’s slogan; it’s also frequently used to describe certain elements which appeal to certain fanbase demographics (none of those elements, however, are on either card). The word “fanservice” is the slogan typically used by Quattro, a character from the Yu-Gi-Oh ZEXAL anime series. In addition, “fanservice” is a term typically used for elements that cater to a specific demographic of the fanbase (ironically, that definition of “fanservice” isn’t present on either card).

This card hasn’t yet been released in English.

The sale price of a Gimmick Puppet Fanatix Makina (Infinite Forbidden INFO-JP042) card is 2,200 JPY (~US$16).

In other TCG-related news, check out the Top Hat Hare the Silhouette Magician card from Infinite Forbidden.
