That’s because this deck’s players now often make use of the Jack and Kaido cards from Two Legends [OP-08] to compensate.

Jack’s capability to dish out insta-KOs on opposing Characters with a cost of 3 or less pairs well with Kaido’s combination of hand disruption and effect on play which allows the player to trash an opposing Character with a cost of 7 or less.

[Update 13 Aug 2024] The upcoming ban of the Enies Lobby card from Pillars of Strength [OP-03] will deal a severe blow to this deck’s fortunes. That card had been a vital part of the Black Lucci deck’s overall strategy. As a result, the metagame position of the Black Lucci deck will almost certainly decline sharply following Enies Lobby’s ban on 1 September 2024.

The release of the 500 Years in the Future [OP-07] set earlier this year unleashed significant effects on the metagame of the ONE PIECE Card Game. One deck which received a significant boost was the Black Lucci deck.

Its previous iteration was most notably used by Chilean player Vicente Carrizo in the October 2023 LATAM TCG Online Regional; that version made use of the Rob Lucci Leader card from Pillars of Strength [OP-03]. However, the deck featuring the 500 Years in the Future [OP-07] version of the Rob Lucci Leader card has begun to catch on among many elite players.

Most recently used by Shyam Gasper to win a Flagship Battle tournament in Brunei, this new Black Lucci deck is built around its Leader card’s capability of reducing the cost of an opponent’s Character.

The Lucci card combines well with the Gecko Moria card from Wings of the Captain [OP-06] because that makes it easier to summon another Rob Lucci card—this one from Awakening of the New Era [OP-05]—as well as Spandam from Pillars of Strength [OP-03], facilitating the removal of opponent’s high-cost Characters while also tipping the resource advantage in the player’s favour.

For early-game opposing Character removal as well as quick filling of the player’s trash, Finger Gun from the Extra Booster Memorial Collection [EB-01] is a viable option. Serving as a non-cost reduction form of removal, this card goes well with Enies Lobby, a Stage card from Pillars of Strength [OP-03]. Combined with the deck’s Leader card, removal of opponent’s high-cost characters becomes much simpler.

The usual counter for this deck is the Black/Yellow Luffy deck. When playing against that deck, the idea is to reduce the player’s hand size as quickly as possible while building a board full of high-cost characters.

One possible option is to put Rebecca from Awakening of the New Era [OP-05] and Brook from Wings of the Captain [OP-06] in the trash as soon as possible in order to maximize the value of a potential Moria summon.

Buying all the cards in a Black Lucci deck costs at least 21,700 JPY (~US$142).

In other TCG-related news, check out the Yu-Gi-Oh TCG’s Deck Build Pack: Crossover Breakers. Alternatively, you can also head over to the SNKRDUNK App via the banner below and find the top trending and latest single cards and boxes.

[Update 22 May 2025] Following the recent card bans, a new variant of this deck has emerged.
