The vintage look has been seeing a surge in the sneakersphere. Balenciaga led the charge through their controversial Destroyed Sneakers<\/a> while Donald Glover ripped up New Balances<\/a>, exposing their stitches. Even Converse, with the aid of Korean label ADER ERROR, distressed their Chuck 70<\/a> with paint splatters and roughened edges. The common thread that ties these releases together is their explicit wearing down of the sneaker, despite them actually being brand new and pristine.<\/p>\n

Though there is definitely an artistic appreciation for such designs, Nike uses its Dunk Low Premium “Vast Grey” to showcase the reality of shoes under the care of sneakerheads: slightly “discolored”, but still in a well-kept condition.<\/p>\n

In an almost tonal palette, a light grey suede wraps the forefoot, heel and overlay panels. Even the Swoosh is given the same almost-white suede treatment. Gently accenting the grey are hits of Sail on the laces and tongue. A cream shade, similar to slightly aged suede, rests on the toebox, mid-panel and collar. These elements sit nicely atop a white midsole with greyed outsoles. Overall, the Nike Dunk Low Premium Vast Grey gives off the impression that it’s a well-kept shoe that perhaps has been exposed to a bit too much sunlight.<\/p>\n
