[Update 4 Jul 2025] Another variant of this deck has emerged; it includes Redeemable Ticket from Battle Partners [SV9]. When combined with Arven from Violet ex [SV1V] and the Quick Search Ability of the deck’s titular card from Ruler of the Black Flame [SV3]<\/a>, Redeemable Ticket serves as a way for the player to ensure that all needed cards can be accessed without leaving them buried within the player’s Prize cards. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

[Update 26 Mar 2025] A new variant of this deck which has recently emerged includes Grand Tree from Stellar Miracle [SV7], Milotic from Mask of Change [SV6], and Radiant Alakazam from Incandescent Arcana [S11a]. Grand Tree gets the deck’s titular Pok\u00e9mon in play in a way that circumvents Item locks, Milotic counters the Gardevoir ex deck by ensuring that the opponent can return their Pok\u00e9mon in play to the hand, and Radiant Alakazam manipulates the damage on opposing Pok\u00e9mon to put the player in an advantageous position. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Pidgeot ex card from the Ruler of the Black Flame [SV3] set <\/a>is best known as being a key piece of the Charizard ex deck that has been dominating the Pok\u00e9mon TCG tournament scene. However, another viable option involving Pidgeot ex is a deck built around it. At the recent Pok\u00e9mon Europe International Championships (EUIC), Italian player Alessandro Cremascoli finished third with this defensively-oriented deck.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This deck is primarily intended to drain opponents’ resources and leave them helpless. For this purpose, the deck includes cards such as Eri from Wild Force [SV5K] and Counter Catcher from Future Flash [SV4M]; these disruptive cards do much to prevent opponents from adequately setting up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another important card in this deck is the Mimikyu card from Shiny Treasure ex [SV4a]. Its Ability of Safeguard shields it from all damage done by the opponent’s Pok\u00e9mon-ex and Pok\u00e9mon V. This often forces opponents into retreats, making them need to reset their approach. While all of this is going on, Pidgeot ex itself will be constantly utilizing Quick Search, its iconic Ability, to load up the player’s hand with exactly the cards to throw the opponent off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Like many defensive decks, this deck’s main win condition is usually the opponent’s decking out rather than the collection of six Prize cards. Additionally, using this deck often allows the player to dictate the tempo of play, especially if the opponent doesn’t have a suitable counter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The total cost of all the cards in the Pidgeot ex Deck is at least 10,400 JPY (~US$68).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
