[Update 23 Jul 2025] This card’s price continues to be extremely volatile as of late; over the last two weeks it has climbed by more than 50% to 15,760 JPY (~US$107) per card. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

[Update 9 Jul 2025] Almost as suddenly as this card’s price soared, it’s fallen back down to earth just like that. In less than a week, the price of this card has been slashed by almost two-thirds; a copy now goes for just 10,000 JPY (~US$68). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

[Update 4 Jul 2025] Following a recent massive price spike, this card now carries a price tag of 28,000 JPY (~US$194).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The release of the Detective Pikachu movie in 2019, based on a relatively less-known 2016 video game of the same name, arguably did more to elevate Pok\u00e9mon’s standing in the public consciousness than any other piece of Pok\u00e9mon-related media since the 2016 launch of mobile game Pok\u00e9mon Go. With this in mind, it’s no surprise that Creatures Inc. capitalized on this by releasing a promotional Detective Pikachu Pok\u00e9mon TCG card.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In what may have been a surprising move, the card’s Full Art illustration isn’t taken from the live-action movie, but from the video game. Nevertheless, the card’s Detective Pikachu branding remains prominent\u2014as evidenced by the Detective Pikachu logo placed on the right side of the card.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The card’s rather whimsical art style fits its general tone as well as that of the video game. The knocked-over potted plant as well as Detective Pikachu seated on a Growlithe’s back add to the card’s charm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since a sequel to the video game was released less than a year ago while a film sequel is on its way, this card’s appeal has recently risen. Once the movie drops, it’ll be almost certain that this card’s popularity will once again skyrocket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This card was not released in English.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The most recent figures place a Detective Pikachu (SV-P Promotional Cards 098\/SV-P) card at a price of 2,000 JPY (~US$13).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
