The Bloodmoon Beast turns out to be a Bloodmoon Ursaluna—a centuries-old Ursaluna that made its way to Kitakami from the Hisui region (the Sinnoh region’s name in antiquity according to in-universe canon). That same Bloodmoon Ursaluna makes its Pokémon TCG debut in the Crimson Haze [SV5a] set.

As a newly-introduced Pokémon form, this Bloodmoon Ursaluna ex card possesses a novelty factor which won’t wear off for some time. In addition, this card’s rarity of Special Art Rare (SAR) greatly enhances its value.

The card’s illustration, a Full Art rendering of Bloodmoon Ursaluna ex in the Timeless Woods, makes use of a watercolor-esque aesthetic matching the light-hearted tone of the imagery. Although the card does feature a canonical error (there are no Teddiursa in the Timeless Woods), this doesn’t detract from the overall demand for the card.

Gameplay-wise, while unlikely to become a staple of the meta’s next rotation, there’ll still likely be a place for Bloodmoon Ursaluna ex as a “pocket pick” in certain decks. While its Blood Moon attack ordinarily requires a whopping five Energy cards to be used, Bloodmoon Ursaluna’s Ability is Veteran’s Technique. That Ability reduces Blood Moon’s Energy card requirement by one per Prize card that the opponent has taken.

This card’s English version will be part of the Twilight Masquerade [TWM] set. Its number hasn’t yet been finalized.

The price of a Bloodmoon Ursaluna ex (Crimson Haze [SV5a] 091/066) card of SAR rarity is 4,280 JPY (~US$28).

In other TCG-related news, check out the Limiter Removal card from Quarter Century Chronicle side:Pride.
